This Independence Day, Choose True Freedom: Choose a Nasha Mukt Jeevan

Every Independence Day, we proudly see our Tiranga flying high and remember the sacrifices of countless people who worked for the freedom of our nation.

But this Independence Day, Evolve Club would like every student to think about another important question:

Are we truly free within ourselves?

A country can be independent, but an individual may still become dependent on alcohol, tobacco, drugs, vaping, excessive screen usage, unhealthy habits, peer pressure, anger or other addictions.
True freedom is not only freedom from external control.

True freedom is having control over our own mind, habits and choices.

That is why this Independence Day, let us choose a different kind of freedom:

Choose a Nasha Mukt Jeevan

A Nasha Mukt Jeevan means living without alcohol, tobacco, drugs and other harmful intoxicating substances.

It means choosing:

Clarity over intoxication.
Health over harmful habits.
Discipline over temptation.
Purpose over temporary pleasure.

Young people sometimes face pressure to try alcohol, smoking or other intoxicants just to fit into a group.

Someone may say:

“Everyone does it.”

“Try it just once.”

“It is only for fun.”

But real confidence is not following the crowd.

Real confidence is having the courage to say NO when something can harm your health, character and future.

Your body and mind are among your greatest assets.

Protect them.

Freedom Means the Power to Make the Right Choice

This Independence Day, Evolve Club invites every student to think about a deeper meaning of freedom. Our freedom fighters sacrificed so much to give us an independent nation, but true freedom also means being free from habits that control our mind, damage our health, and weaken our future. A Nasha Mukt Jeevan means choosing a life free from alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and other harmful addictions. It means having the courage to say “No” to peer pressure and choosing health, clarity, self-control, and a meaningful life instead.

Young people are the future of India, and a strong nation needs young minds that are healthy, disciplined, responsible, and compassionate. Evolve Club encourages students to support the MY Bharat “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” initiative and take a personal pledge towards a drug-free and healthier India. Students can join the movement and take the pledge at https://mybharat.gov.in/events/nasha_mukt_yuva. One positive decision can become a good habit, and good habits can transform an entire life.

Our spiritual traditions also remind us about the importance of self-control, prayer, purity, compassion, responsibility, and service. Different religions and spiritual paths may have different practices, but they encourage us to stay away from activities that disturb our judgment and lead us towards harmful behaviour. Prayer, meditation, remembrance of God, reading uplifting wisdom, and keeping good company can give us the inner strength to face stress and difficulties without depending on intoxicants or unhealthy habits. Real peace and happiness come from within.

A good life is built through simple daily habits. Waking up on time, studying sincerely, exercising, respecting parents and teachers, choosing good friends, reducing unnecessary screen time, speaking truthfully, using time wisely, and maintaining discipline can gradually shape our character. We should also care for our body by choosing fresh, wholesome, and compassionate Ahimsa food, drinking enough water, getting proper sleep, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Taking care of our body and mind gives us more energy to learn, work, create, serve, and enjoy life.

Our happiness is also closely connected with nature. Trees, rivers, animals, soil, and the environment continuously support our lives, and it is our responsibility to protect them. We can save water, reduce plastic, avoid unnecessary waste, plant and protect trees, keep our surroundings clean, and respect all living beings. Save Nature and Save Mother Earth should become part of our daily actions, because real development must also protect the planet for future generations.

Another powerful source of happiness is service. Instead of always asking, “What can I get?”, we can ask, “How can I help?” Helping our parents, supporting a friend, teaching someone, feeding those in need, volunteering, planting trees, keeping our surroundings clean, or encouraging someone to overcome an addiction can give our life a deeper purpose. Happiness gained through service is more meaningful and lasting than temporary pleasure.

This Independence Day, let us take a personal resolution to protect our body and mind, stay away from harmful addictions, follow good habits, choose Ahimsa food, strengthen ourselves through prayer and spiritual values, respect nature, serve others, and inspire our friends to make positive choices. India needs educated youth, but it also needs disciplined, compassionate, healthy, and responsible youth.

Our freedom fighters gave us an independent India. Now it is our responsibility to use that freedom wisely and build a stronger nation. Let us choose health over addiction, discipline over temptation, service over selfishness, and purpose over temporary pleasure. Let us choose a Nasha Mukt Jeevan and become the kind of youth who can build a healthier, happier, and stronger India.

Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind!
